Florence Pugh has spoken out about the end of her three-year relationship with Zach Braff. The pair split up in the early months of this year.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Pugh revealed that she is no longer dating the actor from Scrubs. Pugh told Harper’s Bazaar, “We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing” since “it’s been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on.” This mission, to “do this separation without the world knowing,” is now accomplished. “We just believed that something like this would really do us the good of not having millions of people telling us how delighted they are that we are not together,” the couple said. Sometime in the first few months of 2019, rumours began to circulate that Pugh and Braff were dating. Despite this, the couple has kept their relationship under wraps, opting to appear in public only on a very infrequent basis. The age difference between Pugh, 26, and Braff, 47, has been cited as a major source of online backlash against the celebrity couple.

Pugh and Braff had previously collaborated on the upcoming MGM drama A Good Person before their relationship ended. Braff not only penned, directed, and produced the film, but he also cast Pugh as the lead. Making the video they worked on together was “genuinely certainly one of my most favourite experiences,” Pugh told Harper’s Bazaar. “It seemed like a really easy and natural thing to do at the time.”
