Russian President Vladimir Putin conducted a successful test-firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) designated Sarmat on Wednesday, amid the continued conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as well as rising tensions between Russia and Western countries worldwide (RS-28 Sarmat Test). These missiles have the capability of transporting nuclear warheads.

Sarmat is a Russian missile that belongs to the next generation. Hypersonic missiles such as the Kinjal and Avangard are also included in this category. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Sarmat is capable of transporting a hypersonic glide vehicle in addition to other missile systems.
This missile possesses the most advanced tactical and technical characteristics available. It is capable of evading and destroying any anti-missile defence systems.
It has the capability of transporting weapons weighing more than 200 tonnes as well as several nuclear warheads. In accordance with the Russian Ministry of Defense, the missile was tested at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, located in northern Russia.
