On June 10, Skoda will unveil the fourth-generation Octavia sedan in India. However, before the introduction, the company has divulged some critical facts regarding the new generation of Octavia’s interior.

The 2021 Skoda Octavia is already in the works and was slated to debut in late April or early May. The escalating Covid-19 problem, however, caused Skoda to postpone the launch by a few weeks.

Skoda has already revealed the exterior design of the upcoming generation Octavia. Skoda has unveiled features that will emphasise the new-look interior of the car two days before the launch.

According to the automaker, the 2021 Octavia will come with a two-spoke steering wheel, a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit, and a 10-inch infotainment system with smartphone compatibility.

Skoda has also included amenities such as an electromechanical parking brake with auto hold, automated climate control, and cordless smartphone charging. Ambient lighting and a sunroof will be standard on the fourth-generation Skoda Octavia sedan.

The transmission, on the other hand, has seen the most significant alteration. According to Skoda, the 2021 Skoda Octavia will be the first car with a shift-by-wire selection for the DSG automatic gearbox.

Among the features of the new Octavia, the sedan will be a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. The shift-by-wire selector is an electrical mechanism that allows the gears to be changed without using a mechanical link between the gear shifting lever and the transmission.

The 2021 Skoda Octavia will have a fully new outward design as well as new powertrain options. It is 18 millimetres longer and 15 millimetres wider than its predecessor. The rear passengers will benefit from an extra 78 mm of knee room and 600-litre boot space.

A redesigned grille with black vertical slats flanks LED headlights with twin J-shaped LED DRLs and fog lights on the new Octavia. There are also new wrap-around LED taillights, dynamic LED turn indicators and a new Skoda branding style on the boot lid. The Octavia 2021 is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels.

The new Octavia sedan will be driven by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine with the highest power of 187 bhp and peak torque of 320 Nm. When it debuts in 2021, the Octavia will compete against the Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra.
