In the new Pixar movie Lightyear, Chris Evans did the voice of Buzz Lightyear, a fictional character who inspired the Toy Story version of Buzz. Since the movie Lightyear came out, people have wondered why Chris Evans replaced Tim Allen as Buzz in the Toy Story movies.
Tom Hanks recently talked about how Buzz Lightyear replaced Tim Allen as the voice of Toy Story’s main character, Woody. When asked how his new movie, Elvis, would compare to Lightyear, he said, “What do you say? Actually, I wanted to compete against Tim Allen, but they wouldn’t let him. I don’t understand that.”
Hanks went on, “In the movie, Chris Evans plays Buzz,” according to Independent. “Yes, I do know. I want to go back to the theatre with a group of strangers and find something we have in common when we leave. I want to do that, and I’m looking forward to going to the movies with Allen.”
Tim Allen recently spoke out about Buzz Lightyear and said that it was a brand new story that had nothing to do with the toy he plays in the franchise. The actor told an extra that even though it’s a “great story,” it has nothing to do with the toy. The actor also said that he “stayed out” of the discussion because Buzz Lightyear is not a main character in the movie Lightyear.
