Ray Liotta, who acted in the movie Goodfellas and Field of Dreams, passed away at the age of 67.
According to his representative, the actor died while shooting Dangerous Waters in the Dominican Republic.
Liotta was abandoned at a New Jersey orphanage at 6 months old. Initially, he couldn’t comprehend how a parent could give up a child. “So I was like, fucked up. I wasn’t as angry when I met my birth mom in my 40s. Another trip.”
Liotta received a Golden Globe nod for 1986’s Something Wild after tiny TV and film roles. He then starred in Field of Dreams and Goodfellas.
“If people remember one movie, terrific. He told the Guardian in 2021, “If you get two, that’s amazing.”
In the 1990s, he starred in thrillers with Kurt Russell, Robert De Niro, and Whoopi Goldberg. He was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award for The Rat Pack. The next decade included performances in Hannibal, Narc, and ER.
Liotta turned down The Sopranos. He told the Guardian, “I didn’t want to do another mafia thing by shooting Hannibal.” “The timing wasn’t right.” Later, he starred in The Many Saints of Newark (2021).
Liotta admits he’s not the tough guy people think he is. “I’ve never been in a fight, except during sports, and that’s just pushing,” he remarked.
Marriage Story and Amazon’s Hanna adaptation are recent examples. His final roles are Apple’s Black Bird with Taron Egerton and Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear.
Industry members are paying tribute online. Lorraine Bracco, his Goodfellas co-star, tweeted she was “devastated” People everywhere tell her Goodfellas is their favourite movie, she wrote. “Then they ask what was best about making the film. Always the same… “Ray Liotta”
