India “A” will probably be led by Shubman Gill when they play New Zealand “A” in September.

Shubman Gill is likely to lead India “A” and New Zealand “A” in both the three one-day games and the four-day games in September. Even though the BCCI hasn’t said who will be in charge of the “A” team yet, it’s likely that Gill will be in charge.

Sources say that Shams Mulani, who is 25 years old, may also get his first call-up to the India “A” team. Mulani, an all-rounder who spins the ball with his left arm and plays for both the senior and under-25 teams for Mumbai, had a great domestic season.

Last year, Mulani took the most wickets in the Ranji Trophy. He took wickets in six games and had six five-wicket hauls. He also won the under-25 CK Nayudu Trophy for Mumbai by taking 29 wickets in three games.

In addition to Mulani, the India ‘A’ squad for the four-day matches could include Shardul Thakur, an all-rounder who can bowl fast, Sarfaraz Khan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Most likely, Madhya Pradesh’s Rajat Patidar, who scored 122 runs and had an unbeaten 30 in his team’s first Ranji win in June, will also get a call from India “A.”

Off-spinner and all-rounder Washington Sundar, who missed the Zimbabwe ODI tour because of a shoulder injury he got in the UK, could be picked for both teams. Mohammed Siraj, Hanuma Vihari, Yash Dubey, Rajat Patidar, Washington Sundar, Shubham Sharma, KS Bharat, Jalaj Saxena, Akshay Wadkar, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Manisankar Murasingh may also be going on the four-day trip. Most likely, opener Prithvi Shaw will play in one-day games.

New Zealand “A” will play seven international games under the direction of Tom Bruce. The tour will include three four-day matches in Bangalore from September 1–4, 8–11, and 15–18, as well as three one-day matches in Chennai on September 22, 25, and 27.
