Natalie Portman “never” thought that playing Mighty Thor would make her famous. In the upcoming Marvel movie Thor: Love and Thunder, fans are excited to see Portman reprise her role as Jane Foster. Portman made a triumphant return to the MCU after a six-year absence when she bought Thor’s powerful hammer Mjolnir.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Portman said that she wasn’t excited about her return to the franchise as Mighty Thor. She talked about the Jane as Mighty Thor comic books that Taika gave her the first time they met, which were published in 2014, three years after Portman started playing Jane Foster. She said, “It’s really cool to have these Jane as Mighty Thor comic books that Taika gave me as a seed of an idea for what this could be.” After director Taika Waititi showed up at the Comic-Con in late 2019, Marvel told the story.

When asked if she had ever thought about playing the hero after it was made, Portman said, “No, I never did.” Even though there was a delay, Portman did a great job with the role in the next movie. She talked about how Chris Hemsworth helped her learn how to use a hammer during filming. It was really helpful to have Chris there, and his experience with it helped me figure out how to make it look like I was using it, even though I knew I wasn’t. You’re working with nothing a lot of the time—I’d even say most of the time, according to Chris.
